The Countryside Code

On our walks at Aussie Dog Care with home boarding and dog walking clients we sometimes like to go off the beaten track in and around our local area of Romiley, Stockport. When you are in the countryside you have to abide by a certain code this being – The Countryside Code.  It is set for all members of the public to respect and enjoy the countryside.

This is the Countryside Code:

  • Be safe, plan ahead and follow any signs
    1. Take maps/guidebooks
    2. Be prepared for changes in weather
    3. Check the weather so you know what to expect
    4. Let someone know where you are going, how long you plan to be
    5. Learn signs and symbols used in the countryside
  • Leave gates and property as you find them
    1. Farmers may leave gates open to allow their animals to move – so leave an open gate open, and a closed gate closed
    2. Contact the local authority if you see a sign which may be misleading or illegal (e.g. Private, no entry – on a public footpath)
    3. Follow paths where crops are growing
    4. Use gates or stiles if possible, rather than climbing walls or fences, to avoid damage
    5. Don’t disturb ruins or historic sites
    6. Don’t interfere with machinery or livestock
  • Protect plants and animals and take your litter home
    1. Litter and leftover food spoils the beauty of the countryside
    2. Don’t damage, destroy or remove features such as rocks, plants and trees
    3. Give wild animals and farm animals plenty of space as they can behave unpredictably
    4. Be careful not to drop matches or smouldering cigarettes.
  • Keep dogs under close control
    1. By law, you must control your dog so that it does not disturb or scare farm animals or wildlife
    2. Farmers are, by law, entitled to destroy a dog that injures or worries their animals
    3. Always clean up after your dog and get rid of the mess responsibly
  • Consider other people
    1. Respect the needs of local people
    2. When riding a bike or driving a vehicle, slow down for horses, walkers and livestock and give them plenty of room
    3. By law, cyclists must give way to walkers and horse-riders on bridleways
    4. Support the rural economy – for example, buy your supplies from local shops

Aussie Dog Care offers luxury and exclusive home boarding for dogs. We tailor to your needs and therefore have to do a trial day and night before hand to make sure your dog is suitable and comfortable for home boarding. At Aussie Dog Care we make sure your dog is as comfortable and content as they can be ! Exercise and your normal regime will be carried out in my home with your dog.

Rest assured your dogs will have an amazing stay in our 1/2 acre garden as well as luxury accommodation! Aussie Dog Care is just run by me alone therefore I am the only person who will be looking after your dog however the whole family will chip in with cuddles and love!

I am fully licensed for home boarding by Stockport Council , I also have a First Aid Certificate in Canine First Aid , am fully insured and CRB Checked .

You can rest easy that your dog is safe and I also will regularly update on Facebook and Twitter  . I can also Text Message you to let you know your dog is happy and settled home into my home

We are not far from many areas like Marple, Didsbury , Stockport ,New Mills , Marple Bridge , Gee Cross , High Lane , Hazel Grove , Tameside , Glossop and more! We give your dog lots of fantastic wildlife walks in Etherow Country Park Compstall , Werneth Low Country Park ( a walk away!) , Lyme Park Disley , Brabyns Park Marple , Chadkirk Estate Romiley ( a walk away!)  and many more!

Our Dog Home Boarding gets booked up very fast so please book in advance!

Three Peaks Challenge

I , Juliet , at Aussie Dog Care have taken part in the Three Peaks Challenge! It is a wonderful achievement when  finishing and I would recommend anyone to do it who enjoys walking – a lot!

If you don’t want to do all three within the challenge time scales then I would recommend to do them individually!

How to take part in the Three Peaks Challenge

You can take part in the Challenge in three ways — as a self-organised event, aprofessionally organised event, or as part of a charity-organised event. Self-organised events are often the cheapest way to take part, while many groups will benefit from the assistance provided by professional mountain guides.

Self-organised groups can optionally register their challenge, for guidance on organising a safe and responsible challenge.

It is a popular misconception that the three mountains in question are the three highest in Britain. Over one hundred peaks in Scotland are higher than Scafell Pike, and 56 higher than Snowdon.”

Lyme Park Disley

At Aussie Dog Care we love regular trips to Lyme Park in Disley . If you scroll down below you can see some pictures of our dog walking at Lyme Park Disley.

“Lyme Park is a large estate located south of Disley, Cheshire. The estate is managed by the National Trust and consists of a mansion house surrounded by formal gardens, in a deer park in the Peak District National Park.[1] The house is the largest in Cheshire,[2] and is designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.[3]

The estate was granted to Sir Thomas Danyers in 1346 and passed to the Leghs of Lyme by marriage in 1388. It remained in the possession of the Legh family until 1946 when it was given to the National Trust. The house dates from the latter part of the 16th century. Modifications were made to it in the 1720s by Giacomo Leoni, who retained some of the Elizabethan features and added others, particularly the courtyard and the south range. It is difficult to classify Leoni’s work at Lyme, as it contains elements of both Palladian and Baroque styles.[a] Further modifications were made by Lewis Wyatt in the 19th century, especially to the interior. Formal gardens were created and developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The house, gardens and park have been used as locations for filming and they are open to the public.
